Jimmy Buffett is lending his voice once again to the Barack Obama campaign. He’ll headline a fundraiser at a Florida home on October 12th, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Next up at the Lake Mary home of celeb-lawyer and Democratic fundraiser John Morgan: Jimmy Buffett, live and in concert, to raise money for the re-election campaign of President Barack Obama.

Morgan is inviting people to a private, 5 p.m. fundraising party at his Lake Mary mansion on Oct. 12 featuring “A Musical Evening with Jimmy Buffett.”

Price of tickets starts at $500 just for the concert; $1,000 for VIP seating; and $5,000 for a meet-and-greet opportunity with the Florida Keys balladeer, Cheeseburger in Paradise rocker and long-time Democratic supporter.

“Remember, it’s five o’clock somewhere. Come get your margaritas, cheeseburgers and paradise at Morganritaville!!” Morgan states in an invitation cover letter.

Proceeds will be split up between the Obama For America committee, the Democratic National Committee, and state Democratic committees in Florida, Ohio and several other “swing states.”

In 2008, Buffett played to 20,000 people at a campaign rally in Tampa for Obama. In 2009, Buffett was spotted at the White House while in town for his annual northern Virginia show.

Obama also delved into political fundraising in 2010, playing at a private event for Florida gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink.

    I love Jimmy’s music. I don’t like Jimmy’s politics….

    + music; – politics

    Good Job Jimmy :)

I have no problem with an artist who wants to raise money for a disgraceful cause, as long as they don’t force it on people. I’ve seen Jimmy about fifty times, and I’ve never heard him “Campaign” for someone during a normal show. I don’t care who you support… if you try to push your politics on people who just come to hear your music, I’ll never support you again! I’ve heard others do this in concert, but Jimmy seems to respect that divide very well!

Went to the show in Tampa in 2008, awesome, love it that Jimmy has his head screwed on straight and is proud to support his causes.  Is Romney going to support the environmental causes Jimmy champions?  Hardly…

Entertainers have the right to fund raise for whomever they choose and I have the right to spend my money as I please

Apparently Jimmy , like Clint Eastwood , doesn’t need your money anymore.

Why else would he essentially give a large chunk of his fans the finger?

I say give him back the finger

    Boycott Jimmy Buffet

Boycott Land Shark Beer and the rest of his alcohol line

    Boycott Margaritaville Restaraunts

    Boycott Margaritaville Radio

I’m sure the list goes on , sure looks like Jimmy is a 1 percenter

      Okay, we’ll boycott Jimmy BuffeT…..

Who the hell is Jimmy BuffeT?

It’s a private fundraiser and he isn’t forcing his views on anyone. He has every right to support anyone he wants, including President Obama. Republicans love to condemn celebrities that openly support Democrats but they have no problem with Clint Eastwood or Dennis Miller or Arnold Schwarzenegger supporting Republicans. Typical Republican thinking (which isn’t thinking at all !)

I think you are right on I love Jimmy and his politics.
