Jimmy Buffett was in Orlando on Friday night to help Democratic incumbent senator Bill Nelson kick off a statewide campaign tour.

U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson kicked off a cross-state tour Friday with singer Jimmy Buffett at his side, starting an itinerary that will take him to at least 19 stops in the last weeks of a hard-fought campaign against Republican U.S. Rep. Connie Mack.

About 100 supporters swayed and snapped cell phone photos of Buffett as he sang acoustical versions of “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” and “Margaritaville” in a hangar at the Orlando-Sanford International Airport. Nelson and his wife, Grace, danced alongside him.

“Go support Bill Nelson and the Democrats because guess what? Florida matters,” said Buffett, who was dressed in shorts, flip flops and sunglasses.

Nelson said the tour underscored his commitment to visit as many places in Florida as he can, even Republican bastions like the retirement community, The Villages, northwest of Orlando

What got left out of the orig. article was the fact you had to be invited and “on the list”. A dozen of us took time off our busy schedules to give our support to Nelson and enjoy a couple of Buffett songs…Not only turned away from standing at the door way you can see at the back of the picture above..but Nelson’s people had the police run us off…guess Bill does’t care that much about the people he is paid to represent!

I happen to be a huge Jimmy Buffett fan.  However, I’m not a fan that agrees with his “political persuasion” in this public venue, and it would be nice if he kept it private.  It’s no secret that he despises the politics of our Country.  (It’s referred to in the lyrics of a number of songs that he’s written.)  So why support one party or another, especially when he seems to live his life more as a Conservative than as a Liberal??
Boo Hiss, Jimmy… but, I love you anyway.
