Buffet Hotel is Jimmy at his rhyming best. Great tunes with thoughtful lyrics. Lots of future hits on this CD, but I won’t mention any here; you have to mine your own nuggets.\par

This album is wonderful. Surfin In A Hurricane is the best thing he’s recorded in years. I can’t believe JB’s still churning out this kind of quality this far into his voyage. I never would have imagined, after buying the A-1-A album, that this many years later, I’d still be hanging on every line. Have a Merry Christmas, and Happy Birthday Jimmy!

If “Surfin In A Hurricane” is “the best thing he’s recorded in years,” then you’re not much of a Buffett fan. The song and the CD is rather bland, I would rather listen to AIA all night. Any true Buffett fan will realize the last three CD’s are for profit and have no musical value; at least not compared to the “true” Buffett songs we have come to love.

Don’t bash poor Paul just because he really likes “Surfin In A Hurricane”. It’s a pretty good, hard drivin’ tune.\par
I think Jimmy’s recent albums are a little different from his earlier ones because they reflect his pesonal realization that he’s a lucky guy to be 62 and still kickin’ ass. So perhaps his lyrics are a bit more mellow and reflective now — but no less entertaining. As a fellow baby boomer I can relate. \par

“Surfing in a Hurricane” was great live on the “Youtube” clip from Hawaii. It was ruined in the studio. Too subdued. Same with “Wings.” The accoustic version on the video was great. The hokey music from the studio ruined it. The rap song is unlistenable. As my daughter said, “Old, chubby bald white guys need not rap.”
