According to the Edmonton Sun, the first Margaritaville restaurant in Canada will open next year in Edmonton:

Look for a Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Cafe to open in west-end Edmonton next year, full of boats and planes and the Key West atmosphere so celebrated in Jimmy’s tunes. It’s a happening chain stateside.

Jimmy Buffett has several Margaritaville locations in the US as well as locations in the Caribbean and Mexico.

Might as well start somewhere – – I guess? I hate to say this is not a destination? Oh well, it makes as much sense as Buffett in Toronto in November? Get a grip Jimmy!

Maybe he could look into opening in Ontario. Cambridge has an old Sams club vacant =) besides I can think of at least 6 clubs that would go

I met Jimmy in Vegas in 2005 celebrating my 40th. I asked him when he was coming to Canada. He replied that he just came back from the Maratimes, to which I replied, in jest, “thats not Canada, You gotta come to Edmonton”. I guess he listenes. Thanks Jimmy. I am looking forward to a cheeseburger in paradise!!!

I’m not sure how or where these rumours start, but here is real deal.
The first Margaritaville in Canada will open in the City of Niagara Falls, ON at the corner of Fallsview Blvd. and Murray Str. in the spring of 2010.
The second Margaritaville in Canada will open in Calgary, AB at Stampede Park in 2011.
At present there are no plans for Edmonton…but it is a good idea. Maybe in the future.
