Margaritaville Cozumel opens Saturday morning, March 31st. It’s the 13th Margaritaville, has 500 seats, and sits directly on the Caribbean Sea. It has a tiki bar on the water’s edge and a second floor view. At night you can see the lights of Playa del Carmen. During the day, the cruise ships sit a few hundred yards away and dwarfs everything in view.

Also, an Air Margaritaville will open in the new terminal at the Cancun Airport. It sits in the center of the gate area and is the center piece of the new airport mall. Expected opening is mid-May.

Gillette Stadium Tailgating to Start Later

The Sun Chronicle has an article on tailgating at September’s Gillette Stadium shows: “Margaritaville opens a little later”

Jimmy Buffett fans expecting to tailgate to his Gillette Stadium debut concerts in the morning won’t be welcome in Margaritaville. The Gillette parking lots won’t open until 3:30 p.m., four hours before showtime, selectmen said Tuesday night.

Selectmen voted to license the two sold-out shows, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, and Saturday, Sept. 8. Selectmen voted after discussing the parking issues with Police Chief Edward O’Leary, stadium official Dan Murphy and Stadium Advisory Committee Chairman George Bell II.

“I think we’ve gone out of our way,” Selectmen Vice Chairman James Thrasher said. “The public understands we’re not licensing the lots to open until 3:30 p.m.”

Bell said the parking lots might need to open early because “this is a crowd that arrives really early, potentially early morning.”

At about 11 am, surprising many visitors on the beach, Jimmy and the Beach Band started their acoustic set at a boat shaped bar on the
beach!!! Jimmy Buffett live from Anguilla on Radio Margaritaville on SIRIUS
tonight during the Buffett Buffet after 7pm ET.

You’ll hear Miles Hampton play two songs, indicating that Jimmy will indeed go
deep into his songbook for this concert Saturday 3.24.06 which will be released
as a future DVD. ‘Banana Republics’, and ‘Stranded On A Sandbar’. This is
totally raw…unprocessed audio!!! The mix is 1 ambient mic.
