“I think it’s very cool what Kinky’s doing,” Buffett said. “I like his original slogan: ‘It can’t be that hard.’ I think we need a sense of humor in government these days.”

“Rock ‘n’ roll,” Buffett said. “Every other aspect of the world has tried to run the country. “Why not us?”

Jimmy is mentioned in the Atlanta Journal Constitution article “Trinidad and Tobago scares England.”

The smallest country ever to qualify for a World Cup held the country that invented soccer to a scoreless draw for 82 minutes here Thursday night. Trinidad and Tobago couldn’t hold out forever, though. Two goals in the final 11 minutes gave England a 2-0 victory and a berth in the World Cup round of 16.

“It was a great match. We [just] ran out of gas,” Jimmy Buffett said.

A seaplane flight with Jimmy was auctioned off on Wednesday night for charity, according to the Wall Street Journal article “New York Glitz — to Help Schools.”

It’s known as the Hedge Fund Prom. Beyonce sang, Jay-Z rapped, and Jon Stewart cracked jokes.

The annual Robin Hood Foundation gala, held Wednesday night, is widely considered the most extravagant event of the New York City charity season, pairing Wall Street money and Hollywood glitz. The gathering of hedge-fund founders, media executives and other A-list players raised $48 million to fight poverty in New York City.

Among the prizes: $650,000 for 10 power lunches for two with a series of celebrity executives. Also on the auction block: lessons with surfer Kelly Slater, a flight to the Hamptons or Martha’s Vineyard with Jimmy Buffett on his sea plane, and an evening at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J. for 500.
