TransWorldNews has conducted an interview with “Tempting the Tempest” author Nikki Wood.

It was only a matter of time before someone wrote a novel starring the colorful Parrotheads. Within a short time span, not just one, but two novels hit the stores with Parrotheads as main characters. TWN had the chance to catch up with one of the writers, Nikki Wood, over the weekend by phone.

PRNewswire has an article on a ‘Hoot’ sweepstakes in which you could win 2 concert and backstage passes to see Jimmy:

In an effort to build awareness for the needs of wildlife and engage families in a fun and interactive activity, New Line Cinema has created a program where consumers can download a HOOT DESKTOP PET, which helps fund the National Wildlife Federation’s efforts to protect owls and other wildlife and habitat around the country.

The HOOT DESKTOP PET can be downloaded from the official movie web site and other partner sites.

Consumers who “Adopt” their DESKTOP PET will be invited to fill in a form to register their pet adoption. National Wildlife Federation will receive a donation from New Line Cinema for the adoption program. Parents and children doing good also get benefits as families who adopt the DESKTOP PET will automatically be entered into a grand prize drawing for a trip for 4 to Florida, 2 concert and backstage tickets for a Jimmy Buffett concert, and the opportunity to meet Brie Larson, star of HOOT.

Hoot Premiere April 7th in Boca Grande

According to the Boca Beacon the “Hoot” Premiere will be held on April 7th in Boca Grande, Florida:

The “world premiere” of the Wil Shriner screen adaptation of Carl Hiassen’s Hoot will be held Friday, April 7 in Boca Grande at the Gasparilla Inn Beach Club.

Both Shriner and Hiassen plan to attend the premiere, and others associated the the film project may also attend.

Many of the scenes in the movie were shot in Boca Grande during the five days the company and crew spent on the island in July. Additional scenes were shot earlier this year.

Details of the premiere are still being worked out but it is likely that two showings will be held – the Friday night premiere and a Saturday matinee.

Ticket prices for the event have not been set.

Ticket Info for Hoot Premiere in Boca Grande

Tickets for the two Friday, April 7 screenings of the movie Hoot, whose cast and crew spent five days filming on the island in July, will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 31 at the Gasparilla Inn. Tickets for the showings will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

The screenings are scheduled for 5 and 8 p.m. at the Gasparilla Inn Beach Club. The event is sponsored by the Gasparilla Inn and Gasparilla Properties.

The two showings will benefit the Gasparilla Island Conservation and Improvement Association Inc. Bike Path Endowment Fund.

Tickets for the 5 p.m. screening cost $20. Tickets for the 8 p.m. screening are $100.

“We wanted to have an affordable family matinee at 5 p.m.,” said Gasparilla Inn Manager Andy Nagle. “There will be popcorn and soda at the movie.”

The film, directed by Wil Shriner, is 93 minutes long.
