The Cincinnati Reds have hired former manager Lou Piniella as a senior advisor to baseball operations, the
team announced Saturday on Twitter.
Piniella will also spend time with the team at spring training, according to Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay.
Sweet Lou was last employed by the San Francisco Giants in 2011 as a special consultant, but he did not return
the following year.
Piniella coached the Reds to a World Series title in his first season with the team in 1990. He went on to coach
the Reds until 1992, followed by the Seattle Mariners (1993-2002), Tampa Bay Rays (2003-05) and Cubs (2007-10).
