Jimmy revealed in the pre-show interview that the name of his upcoming album and tour will be called Songs From St. Somewhere.

(thanks to Garrett for catching this)

I love the name!

I like it, too. If the album lives up to the title, it ought to be good.

It seems a bit uninspired and self-referential to me but if the songs are good I'm sure I'll completely overlook the album title. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah he seems to be referring back to older stuff more and more.. But I've always loved "St Somewhere"

I just meant how he references other songs, his own show ("Big Top") and Parrotheads ("Here We Are") in some of his tunes as though he's run out of any new, original ideas. Like I said though, if the album's good I'm sure I'll overlook what appears to be an uninspired title.

Sounds like a Kenny Chesney album title to me. I'm not sure if that means Kenny has been doing a good job trying to be Buffett or Buffett is doing a good job trying to be Chesney. No matter, a title is just that, a title, so hopefully the album will be good. I still think he has at least one more great album in him.

I'm hoping so too. Despite the abundance of covers, I've actually been pretty satisfied with the past few Buffett albums. They're nothing close to what I consider to be his best work but as artists age, it's very rare that they release anything on a par with their greatest achievements. I would love to see more original material from Buffett, just so long as it is not along the lines of "Surfing In A Hurricane". Not a bad song per se but it's a very far cry from the work of the person that crafted tunes such as "Death of An Unpopular Poet" and "He Went To Paris". Then again, he hasn't shown that sort of prowess in the songwriting department in a very long time now. I'd love to see him pull a late career rabbit out of his hat but history tells me otherwise.

Well he's certainly borrowed from his past before, it just so happens to be for an LP title this time instead of a lyric in a song.

Perhaps he's finally flown to St Somewhere...
