Barbra Streisand will perform at this year's Oscars, taking the
stage for the 1st time in 36 years.

In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music, how
could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand?" said the
ceremony's producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, in a statement
Wednesday, adding:"We are honored that she has agree to do a
very special performance."

No word on what that entails. Streisand, whose most recent film
credit is the comedy ''The Guilt Trip'' opposite Seth Rogen, last
performed at the Academy Awards in 1977, when she sang
"Evergreen" from A Star Is Born, for which she won the trophy for
best original song.

The legendary entertainer scored a best actress Oscar for 1968's
''Funny Girl''. She was nominated in 1973 for her role in ''The Way
We Were'' and later for producing 1991's ''The Prince of Tides'', a
best picture contender, as well as co-writing the song "I Finally
Found Someone" from 1996's ''The Mirror Has Two Faces''.

The Oscars will be presented Feb. 24th at the Dolby
Theatre in Hollywood, CA.
