Those of you on the Tried & True mailing list probably received this news via their newsletter today. If not, here's a link to the documentary website.

Thanks for that clip from Dinah Shore's show, that was kick ass. Many years ago, when WQDR in Raleigh went off the air (at least as a rock station), DJ Bob Walton played Jerry Jeff's version of "L.A. Freeway" as his last song (somewhat ironically, they switched their format to country). Commercial radio in the Triangle area of NC just hasn't been the same since.

I grew up in New Braunfels and in Austin Jerry Jeff, Willie, Johnny Cash that music I was exposed to early in life......I now realize how priviliged my life was to hear and been in the perpiphery of the outlaw music scene of late 1970s!

In college (www.schreiner.edu) I found a radio station that made life pleasant imagine driving Texas hillcountry hearing Jimmy Buffet, Jerry Jeff, Bob Marley, early fleetwood mac, REO speed Wagon, Bruce all in the same mix! HIll country roads and that music combination.....NICE!

I'm not much on hyperbole but "A Man Must Carry On" and "Live from Gruen Hall" are must listens.

Too bad so much of his back catalog is either out of print or only available on cassette. Or, in the case of his last album, Moon Child, only available as a download. My collection (on vinyl, cassette and CD) is far from complete but my favorite is probably ¡Viva Terlingua!. That's a rather obvious choice but it's essential Jerry Jeff (at least to me).
