Aloha, Captain Jack.

The 4th installment of Disney's popular
"Pirates of the Caribbean" series will be f
ilmed in Hawaii.

Johnny Depp will return to his role as
Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the
Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," which will
begin shooting in the summer on Oahu and
Kauai and be released in 2011.

The film is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer
and directed by Rob Marshall.

The announcement was made by Gov.
Linda Lingle, who recently met with Disney
president and CEO Bob Iger.

Lingle's office estimates the production
will generate $85 million in spending in Hawaii.

"Pirates" is the latest of three big-budget
films being shot in the islands this year.

Interesting. I loved the first three, so I'm curious to see how this one shapes up. I wonder if Orlando Bloom and Kierra knightly will be back :hmm:

I didn't know they were making another. I don't really remember, did the third not wrap everything up?

I don't think any of them ever wrapped anything up. They had been talking about this for months and from what I remember Orlando Bloom wasn't doing it and they weren't sure about Kierra Knightley.

Just looked on IMDB and the only actors they list are Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Martin Klebba (and he's only rumored).

I say that every day.
They need Johnny Depp, Kiera Knightly, and Orlando Bloom; otherwise, it is spiraling into "We want to do a sequel because this series is a cash cow, but we don't care if it's any good or not" territory.

Yea. Like how they're going to do another Spiderman but Tobey McGuire won't be in it

They are "Rebooting" the series, works for Batman and Superman.

Just saw a headline on Yahoo that said Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom aren't expected back.

I thought I heard that they were going to reboot Superman...again.

As to Pirates, I think the new story revolves around the fountain of youth...it was alluded to at the end of the last one.

Man, no Bloom and Knightly would be highly dissapointing, but I would watch it anyway because of Johnny Depp.

Yes, Fountain of Youth was definitely alluded to at end of Pirates 3. As far as Bloom and Knightley, the story would have to take place 10 years after 3 because of the way it ended, so maybe they wanted to continue with Jack Sparrow in his prime.

I also read on Yahoo just the other day that Bloom and Knightly weren't interested in doing a fourth movie. You're right, too, though, about the timing, that it would have to take place 10 years later because of how the third movie ended. And Jack was heading off in search of the Fountain of Youth before that.
