This next one I wrote after the beating death of Matthew Shepard...... The first 3 lines I quoted is what it says on Harry Chapin's grave...........

For Matthew

Oh if a man tried to take his time on earth,
And proved before he died what one man's life could be worth,
I wonder what would happen to this world.................

I know that you are in parardise today
When your angles arrived and carried you away
From something so unspeakable two souless cowards did
To you, a warm soulful compassionate kid

I felt such pain inside when I saw what the papers said
How badly beaten you were upon your precious head
Tears that left a trail through your blood were not only yours
All the angels in heaven cried, and I won't let you die without a cause

How can a human being be filled with such hate?
I can imagine there are some who won't pass through heavens gate
Love is all that matters in the eyes of God you need to know
The love you give to others is how your heart will grow

Live and let live howabout giving it a try
Black, white and gay are only labels in the beholders eye
Everyones life is precious and sacred from within

Friends Of Yesterday

Some you know that I wear my heart on my sleeve.............. I wrote this song for a woman I never met nor never knew, my birth mother.
