The newspaper article showing the inverted aircraft in the water was his Widgeon (G-44), not the Goose (G-21).
Also, it’s a damn shame to see the HU-16 parked at Universal Orlando. It’s one of a very few airworthy Albatrosses. Since it’s a short-wing variant, it does not have the 5000hr life limited wing spar.
There are a lot of folks who would have wanted to buy his Albatross and keep it flying, but I think his lawyers were afraid of some sort of liability after a sale.
It’s too bad he didn’t at least sell the engines/props and put dummy engines in the display aircraft.
There’s a guy who is resurrecting several G-111 Albatrosses from the Tucson desert, but he has more airframes than he has engines and props.
