Hi everyone,

I am building a website to catalog waterfront bars and restaurants and I'm looking for help. The website captures a small description of each establishment and provides searching and browsing of the database.

Now before you warp right over there and lookup your favorite place, please remember a few things:

First, it's still in development - there may be hiccups. I would love to get any feedback regarding usability, site navigation, bugs, errors, description, colors, speed, etc.

Second, the entries were mostly automatically added from a bar and restaurant list i purchased and filtered to waterfront zip codes and likely names (e.g. "beach", "dockside", etc.). This means many waterfront establishments are not in the database yet and some that are there, don't belong.

Third - and this is where JB fans come in - if you are reading this I'm guessing you will probably know about a waterfront bar or two and if so, could you please help us?

We need people to try to find all their favorite waterfront bars and restaurants. If you find one, you can edit its entry by adding descriptions, links, pix, comments in the forum, etc. If you do not find one, you can make a new entry for it.

A waterfront bar or restaurant is a place you can get an adult beverage and see the water. This can be anywhere from a poolside bar to a hill top tavern with an ocean view (e.g. Shirley Heights in Antigua)

You need to register to add entries and you must register then upgrade to Editor status to edit entries you did not enter (e.g. those the computer automatically added.)

Our goal is to have as complete coverage of the US as possible then branch out into the Caribbean, Canada, Latin America, and then the world...

One of my favorite waterfront bars here is Bubba's, in the Lynnhaven Inlet section of Virginia Beach.
You can drive your boat up to it, step into the outside deck & have dinner :)

I love the places where you can just tie up and have a cheeseburger or maybe just a beer or two. Stuart FL (Port Salerno, Manatee Pocket) has 4 of them!

Is there any chance i can get you guys to add these entries to the WFB database?

I couldn't find Bubba's.

And, the entire waterfront is under attack from developers. We are loosing marinas, bars, beaches, docks, launching ramps, left and right. At one time a couple of years ago i read that we were loosing one marina a week in FL.

next time y'all are down this way, we gotta take you to Seagles, located in the historic Riverview Hotel.

Anchor or tie off your boat, walk across the street, you're there. There is Pauli's (Italian, mostly) across from Seagles you can order food, order over the phone from the menu they keep in the bar and they'll deliver. The Riverview has a restaurant in the hotel, plenty of seafood on the menu, somewhat limited hrs., tho.

.....Capt. Stan's Smokehouse has a full bar, too. Live music Fri and Sat nights and he just installed a very nice flat screen TV, for all the sports fans. Ribs, chicken, boston butt sandwiches, hot dogs, and his own Capt. Stan's special, baked potato, loaded with what you want.

of course, there is always the Palace Saloon @ Fernandina Beach, on Amelia Island, Florida. Easy access by boat. Heard the other day they'd refurbished the inside. I liked it the way it way. Oh well.

And no, the recipe for their Pirate's Punch is not available. Had my first fried oysters there, tho, during a Hurricane Watch several years ago.

Pelican Bar Jamaica! You have to take a boat about a mile out in the sea to get here but, it's worth it. Call ahead and they will go fishing that day for you and cook you up their catch. Lobster! Red Stripe is cold, rum is great and the people are laid back. Water is crystal clear. Swim while you wait for your catch to cook up.
