I really like Dukes on Sunday, from when Jimmy played it live in Hawaii, so I'm looking forward to that. Anybody know if any of the songs besides Here We Are and PATEOTW could be original songs by Buffett, or are they all covers?

Quite a few appear to be covers except for "Everybody's On the Phone", was that a Will Kimbrough/Buffett co-write?:

1. Bama Breeze
2. Party At The End Of The World
3. Weather With You - Crowded House
4. Everybody's On The Phone - Will Kimbrough
5. Whoop De Doo
6. Nothin' But A Breeze - Jesse Winchester
7. Cinco De Mayo In Memphis
8. Reggabilly Hill - seen this song mentioned before, forget the original artist
9. Elvis Presley Blues - Gillian Welch?
10. Hula Girl At Heart
11. Wheel Inside The Wheel - Mary Gauthier?
12. Silver Wings - Merle Haggard?
13. Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On
14. Duke's On Sunday
15. Here We Are

I think it was a straight Kimbrough write but I could be wrong

Isn't that from his new record due at the end of this month? I believe it's been available via iTunes for awhile.

Yeah it is, here's the lyrics, believe there all right. I really like this song, can't wait to hear Buffett's version.

Cinco de Mayo in Memphis by Guy Clark

Meanwhile down on biel street
drinking in a biel street bar
there's a fog rolling off the Mississippi
Has anybody seen Arkansas?
And the deckhands from the tollboats
Come ashore wearing Mexican shoes
Oh, they headed strait for Graceland
Was the first thing they wanted to do

Cinco de mayo in Memphis
Marchetti singing the blues
Southern belles and Senoritas
All sportin Blue suede shoes

Porkpie hats and sombreros
Hangin on a downtown street
Swingin pool cues at pinatas
Don't that River smell sweet?
And they all come to get'm some Memphis
A little somethin' for their souls
Jumper cables and limos
Hell, they all came to rock and roll

Cinco de mayo in Memphis
Marchetti singing the blues
Southern belles and Senoritas
All sportin Blue suede shoes

Cinco de mayo in Memphis
Marchetti singing the blues
Southern belles and Senoritas
All sportin Blue suede shoes

Here's a few more, according to Jah's list.

Elvis Presley Blues by David Rawlings/Gillian Welch

I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
Just a country boy that combed his hair
And put on a shirt his mother made and went on the air
And he shook it like a chorus girl
And he shook it like a Harlem queen
He shook it like a midnight rambler,
baby,
Like you never seen

I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
How he took it all out of black and white
Grabbed his wand in the other hand and he held on tight
And he shook it like a hurricane
He shook it like to make it break
And he shook it like a holy roller, baby
With his soul at stake

I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
He was all alone in a long decline
Thinking how happy John Henry was that he fell down and died
When he shook it and he rang like silver
He shook it and he shine like gold
He shook it and he beat that steam drill, baby
Well bless my soul

He shook it and he beat that steam drill, baby
Well bless my soul, what's wrong with me?

I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
I was thinking that night about Elvis
Day that he died, day that he died
Just a country boy that combed his hair
Put on a shirt his mother made and he went on the air
And he shook it like a chorus girl
He shook it like a Harlem queen
He shook it like a midnight rambler, baby
Like he never seen

Wheel inside the Wheel by Mary Gauthier

The parade of souls is marching across the sky
Their heat and their light bathed in blue as they march by
The All Stars play "When the Saints Go Marching In"
A second line forms and they wave white hankies in the wind

Satchmo takes a solo, and he flashes his million dollar smile
Marie Laveau promenades with Oscar Wilde
Big Funky Stella twirls her little red umbrella to the beat
As the soul parade winds its way down Eternity Street

Souls ain't born, souls don't die
Soul ain't made of earth, ain't made of water, ain't made of sky
So, ride the flaming circle, wind the golden reel
And roll on, brother, in the wheel inside the wheel

Mardi Gras Indians chant in the streets at sundown
Spyboy meets Spyboy, and Big Chief meets Big Chief uptown
They circle and sway in their rainbow colored feathers and beads
They prance like peacocks, children of slavery freed

Souls ain't born, souls don't die
Soul ain't made of earth, ain't made of water, ain't made of sky
Ride the flaming circle, wind the golden reel
Roll on, brother, in the wheel inside the wheel

The Krewe of the Crossbones parades into the midnight sun
They march through the fire and come out beating homemade drums
While the French Quarter Queens in their high-heeled drag disguise
Sing "Over the Rainbow" 'til Judy Garland quivers and sighs

Souls ain't born, souls don't die
Soul ain't made of earth, ain't made of water, ain't made of sky
Ride the flaming circle, wind the golden reel
And roll on, brother, in the wheel inside the wheel

Flambeau dancers light the walkway to Jean Pierre's
There's a party tonight and all the girls are gonna be there
Sipping wormwood concoctions, drinking absinthe and talking trash
It's a red carpet, black tie, all night, celestial bash

Souls ain't born, souls don't die
Soul ain't made of earth, ain't made of water, ain't made of sky
Ride the flaming circle, wind the golden reel
And roll on, brother, in the wheel inside the wheel
I said roll on, brother, in the wheel inside the wheel
Yeah, roll on, brother, in the wheel inside the wheel

The Billboard article I just posted in the news section says "Whoop Dee Doo" was written by Mark Knopfler.

Well, here's the lyrics to that one.

Whoop Dee Doo by Mark Knopfler

if i’m over the moon
it’s because i’m over you
a day at a time
and i’m tickety-boo
i don’t carry on
the way i used to
whoop de doo
whoop de doo

if i’m doing great
it’s because when i get home
i don’t go straight
to my answerphone
and the tears don’t come
the way they used to
whoop de doo
whoop de doo

so many little things
are so much better now
they were only the little things
anyhow

if i’m over the moon
it’s because that’s what i am
funny that once
i used to give a damn
and i’d do anything
in the whole wide world for you
whoop de doo
whoop de doo

anything
anything you’d want me to
whoop de doo
whoop de doo

Does Jimmy actually write or record his own songs anymore or is he just to the point that he only covers other peoples songs. If so that it pretty sad.

I would hope it would be more. Most of the times the songs on an album would have been written by him with one or two written by somebody else. Now it just seems that songs written by Jimmy are becoming few and far between. He has always said that he is not a great singer or guitar player but a song writer and story teller but now he dosen't seem to doing those either.
