I read an article about that this morning. Teams try to line up their ace to go against Wainwright, so the Cardinals have faced some really tough pitching on each of Waino's outings. However, they still ought to be able to score SOMETHING!

Cards to retire La Russa's # 10

The Cardinals are wasting no time honoring Tony La Russa,
announcing they will retire their former manager's No. 10
later this month.

The jersey will be retired May 11th prior to the Cards' game
against the Atlanta Braves.

La Russa is working as a consultant with Major League Baseball,
and will manage the NL All-Star team at this year's All-Star game
in Kansas City on July 10th.

La Russa's uniform No. 10 will become the 12th retired by
the Redbirds and the 1st since Whitey Herzog's No. 24 in
2010. La Russa will join Herzog as the only managers who
did not play for the team to have their uniform numbers
retired. Red Schoendienst (No. 2 in 1996), Ken Boyer
(No. 14 in 1984) and Rogers Hornsby both played and
managed for the Redbirds.

La Russa holds the franchise record with 1,408 managing
wins and produced 8 division titles, 3 NL pennants and
championships in 2006 and 2011.

I agree. TLR has earned the honor.

Josh, TLR's probably about the only manager you really remember for the Cards, isn't he? Or do you Joe Torre?

You're right he really is. I was in 5th grade I think when he started managing. It was really strange seeing another face in that role this year because TLR is all I ever remember

I'll say it: Bite me, Garrett! The Braves had a heckuva series against the Cardinals this week. It was cool to see the Cardinals fans cheer Chipper Jones every at bat on Sunday, even though the Braves were beating the Cards. Rough weekend for the Cardinals, though.

This is the first bit of adversity that Matheny has faced.

I was thinking the same thing this morning. This is the club's first real test under Matheny. I wouldn't be surprised to see them bounce back and go on a nice little winning streak. I certainly hope that's what they do.

Josh, I have tix to the Braves/Cards game in Atlanta on Memorial Day. Why don't you get tix and fly into Atlanta and come to the game too! Memorial Day in ATL is ALWAYS fun! I went in 2010 and we beat the Phillies 9-3 to move into first place AND the Beach Boys played a free post game concert! I'd seriously consider it man!

We're actually coming down in July to spend a few days with my bro. While we are down we're going to drive to Hilton Head for a couple days. Our kids have never been to the beach so they'll get to experience that for the first time. Looking forward to it!
