McDonald's to eliminate 8 menu items

Post by HavanaMatt » Wed Dec 10, 2014 5:30 pm

McDonald's is sending 8 items to the chopping block and maybe even getting rid of some ingredients,
as the fast-food chain tries to revamp it's supersize-me reputation.

The chain announced plans to speed up service time by simplifying the menu and reducing the
number of Extra Value Meals from 16 to 11 during an investor meeting Wednesday.

The chain plans on reducing choices of various items, meaning instead of four quarter-pound options,
consumers will have one.

According to McDonald's spokeswoman Becca Hary, the "cleaner menu board" is already being tested
at several locations in the U.S.

The changes come as the fast-food giant struggles to hold on to customers after the company reported
another monthly decline in U.S. sales. In November, sales fell 4.6%, the Associated Press reports.

In order to stay in the playing field, McDonald's is banking on its new "Create Your Taste" program,
where consumers can customize their sandwiches.

I read something the other day that McDs is struggling at the hands of places like Chipotle. Places that feel like you're getting more upscale food but still get it fast and at a fairly good price.

I don't think eliminating items is going to help. I don't mind waiting an extra minute for my food as long as I am getting what I want and the food at least has some taste. IMO McDonalds food just has no taste. I would much rather go to Chipolte, Panera, Five Guys or even Wendy's because the food is actually better.

Haven't been to McDonalds in forever. Only fast food place I've been to recently is Hardees.

The best thing McD's can do is eliminate itself. Fucking garbage.

I go to McDs a lot, but only for the iced tea. I love their unsweet tea and a large is only $1. I probably go there 4-5 times a week for the tea. I rarely, if ever, get food there. Though I don't mind their chicken sandwich and I like their sausage biscuit for breakfast from time to time.

I love the sweet tea too. One of the few things that I would make a special trip to get. If I want a milkshake I will go to Chick-Fil-A.
