Pirates trade Andrew McCutchen and Gerrit Cole. Is it too early to put them in the wait till next year thread?

I'm a fan of the Pirates, trading Cutch & Cole does sting. The Bucs do got some work ahead of them, hopefully
they will really contend sooner than way later.

Giants to bring back Dusty Baker as special advisor

SF is expected to bring back former manager Dusty Baker as a special advisor to CEO Larry Baer, per Bob
Nightengale of USA Today. Baker will report to executive VP Brian Sabean in his new role.

The 68-yr-old Baker will return to work in his home state of California, where he has since enjoyed an accomplished
career as a manager, and a large portion of his success as a skipper came during his San Francisco tenure.

Baker was atop the Giants’ dugout from 1993-2002, a decade long span. Baker’s last season at the helm, the Giants
took home the NL pennant before falling to the Angels in a seven-game World Series.

Mets trade P Matt Harvey to Reds

NYM send Harvey to CIN for C Devin Mesaraco

The Reds are sending cash to the Mets to offset the difference in salary, as Mesoraco is earning $13.125MM in
2018 to Harvey’s $5.6MM.

Ken Rosenthal reports that CIN is paying the entirety of Mesoraco’s deal, while the Mets are paying all of Harvey’s
contract. There’s no impact on either club’s payroll, and the move simply boils down to a change of scenery for
two former stars who’ve fallen out of favor and dropped down the depth chart in their original organizations.

D-backs acquire OF Jon Jay from Royals
ARI receives Jay for 2 minor leaguers

Nationals acquire P Kelvin Herrera from Royals
WAS receives Herrera from KC for 3 minor leaguers
