Your thoughts on the Conan / Leno debacle?

My thoughts are... can't believe how bad NBC is screwing Conan. He's being classy about it. I hope he lands on his feet somewhere. Talk is maybe Fox will put him on a late night show.

I think that they are both being screwed. In order to retain Conan, NBC had to agree to retire Leno whether he wanted to go or not. They did that deal several years ago.

The only problem is that when the time came Jay was still, somewhat unexpectedly, going strong. And Conan's ratings haven't been as good as Leno's, from what I hear.

As Leno pointed out, a contract from NBC is about as good as the toilet paper that it is written on.

What I would like to know if Leno was fully behind the retiring plan 5 years ago. If not, I think it's shitty of him to go back to 10:30 and bump Conan.

I thought the Coco you were talking about was Ice-T's wife and wondered what she had to do with Leno. If I remember correct Jay had said he was going to retire after 5 years which is why Conan's contract was written that way and now then when Jay decided to stay on is why the 10:00 thing came up.

I heard that Conan was given a 30 mil buy out that lets him set up a show on another network next year. I'd say that is a pretty good way to get screwed.
