Jimmy Buffett was in Houston, Texas on Thursday night for a show at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion as part of the 2015 Workin’ N Playin’ Tour.

Astronaut Terry Virts sent a recorded video message from the International Space Station that was played during the show. Watch it here.

The Houston Chronicle has a review of the show:

Buffett’s latest stop on his “Workin’ and Playin’ 2015″ tour was beamed to the International Space Station, where U.S. astronaut and admitted Parrothead Terry Virts has been spending the past six months doing experiments and racking up frequent flier miles.

Virts appeared on a big screen behind Buffett during the show — urging concert fans to get involved in science and read up on the U.S. space program.

He just happened to be wearing a Houston Astros T-shirt. Even in outer space, he was working the room on Earth.

NASA and Buffett’s tech support crew originally hoped to beam Virts’ appearance live during the concert, but the pesky space station was on the far side of the world. So the astronaut’s hello to Buffett fans and Buffett’s thank you — a replay of the full concert — were done on tape.

Buffett opened the show with “Ragtop Day,” “The Great Filling Station Holdup” and “Off to See the Lizard.” He added, “June is almost here, the days are getting longer and I can see the lawn people rocking!”
