Bossier City to Land Margaritaville Casino

Jimmy Buffett is hoping to get approval for a third casino project, this time in Louisiana:

The casino would be built on what used to be the city dump, located just north of Louisiana Boardwalk — if state regulatory agencies approve it and Bossier Parish voters agree to an expansion of gambling in Bossier. That election is tentatively scheduled for November.

Developers of the proposed casino, who want to relocate a casino license now held in Lake Charles, said they want to build a Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville casino and hotel. The complex, which would cost $170 million, would include a 400-room hotel and Margaritaville restaurant. It would include parking for 1,500 vehicles and an entertainment facility for concerts.

The development is relatively conservative when compared to other casino developments. A new one planned for Lake Charles is estimated to cost $400 million, state regulators said.

A Margaritaville Casino is currently under construction in Biloxi and a Margaritaville-themed gaming area at the Flamingo in Las Vegas is also being built.

Bossier City is a suburb of Shreveport in the northwestern part of Louisiana.

Review of Buffett's Boston Show

A couple of Boston area papers have reviews of Buffett’s show at the Comcast Center on Saturday night:

Boston Globe – “Buffett and followers still at home in Margaritaville”
Boston Herald – “Basking in Buffett’s glow”
Sun Chronicle – “Buffett salutes B’s at concert”

It was to no one’s surprise that Buffett shuffled onto stage Saturday night, wearing a “spoked-B” Boston Bruins’ T-shirt with the “uffett” coincidentally stitched next to the B.

A video of the NHL Stanley Cup championship parade in Boston, with Buffett wearing a Bruins “sweater” of course in the crowd – pure Buffett, that’s why everyone loves the guy.

The only thing missing was Lord Stanley’s Cup, but once again Buffett was in championship form.

The Welcome to Fin Land Tour continues Tuesday in Pittsburgh.

Jimmy Buffett’s latest Margaritaville Cafe will open to the public on Monday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 am.

“From my earliest days in the city, playing the Quiet Knight on Belmont, to the pinnacle of live performances to me, singing in front of the ivy wall at Wrigley Field, I have had a long and wonderful history and affection for the people, the music, the art and the food of the Windy City,” said Jimmy Buffett. “I have always thought of Chicago as a beach town, a pretty big one, but still a beach town.”

The restaurant had hoped to open in time for Memorial Weekend, but was delayed by about three weeks.
