One of Jimmy Buffett’s new songs that he’s been playing on tour this year, “Summerzcool”, will be released as a digital download on May 5th. You’ll be able to purchase the song from Amazon.com for 99 cents.
The Jimmy Buffett Today Show concert on May 5th has reportedly been canceled so that the anchors and staff can remain in New York to cover the Swine Flu breakout.
The Key West Chronicle says that “The Today show plans on doing a Key West broadcast at a later date – but as of now, none is scheduled.”
The new single by Mac McAnally entitled “You First” is now available as a digital download.
From Country Standard Time:
Show Dog Nashville singer Mac McAnally will donate all his artist royalties from his debut single You First, released on April 27, to the Wounded Warriors Project, which helps wounded soldiers.
The single, which is available through all digital music retailers, is prelude to a full album expected to be completed in June as McAnally works recording into his touring schedule. A longtime member of Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer band, McAnally has been on the road much of this year.

The Key West Chronicle’s Key West Blog has some additional details on Jimmy Buffett’s upcoming concert on the Today Show that we first reported last Thursday:
The Today Show is promoting Key West as an American vacation destination and will be filming an entire 4-hour morning show on our little tropical island.
As part of the production, Jimmy Buffett will play a live 30-minute concert on May 5, 2009 starting at 8:30 am.
The mini concert will be at either the Westin Resort or Mallory Square.
The Summerzcool tour moved home to Florida tonight as Jimmy and the band invaded the Coast of Florida for the next show on the Summerzcool Tour in Tampa, Florida.
The fun started early as before Hot, Hot, Hot Jimmy brought out Florida Head football coach Urban Meyer and awarded him a Tailgate Trophy. From there, the show was basically the same as Raleigh. “Coast of Carolina” was dedicated to Jimmy’s wife Jane for her birthday. “Gypsies in the Palace” once again featured the poem before the song. But the encore brought us a few tour debuts as Jimmy treated us to a full band arrangement of “Havana Daydreamin’” as the final song in the first encore and “Migration” as the solo acoustic song in the second encore. Both where last played in Key West on February 12.
The 2009 Summerzcool Tour will be on break until May 14 when the tour will resume with a show from the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in Phoenix, AZ. There’s still plenty of time to get your tickets now!

I heard on the Today Show this morning that the Today Show gang is heading out to Key West on May 5th to Mile Marker 0 and Jimmy Buffett will be playing a concert there with the Today Show.
For one week this May, America’s first TV family will be spending more than just their mornings together. Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Al Roker and Ann Curry will pack their bags and head to some of America’s most beautiful destinations. TODAY Takes a Vacation, a five-day series, begins Monday, May 4.
Lauer added details about the anchors’ itinerary for Tuesday, May 5. “We’ll travel to mile marker zero in Key West, Florida,” he said. “From the southernmost point in the U.S., we will look for sunken treasure. And you can’t go to Key West without a little music from Jimmy Buffett, who’ll greet us with a live concert.”
