Jimmy Buffett Contributes To Make-A-Wish Of Michigan

The Michigan chapter of the Make-A-Wish foundation held its Pistons Cares Telethon on Friday, March 14th and Jimmy was among several entertainers who supported the cause.

The 17-hour event raised more than $480,000 and gave PS&E an opportunity to grant 60 wishes for Michigan kids with life-threatening medical conditions. A check presentation is planned for halftime of tonight’s Nuggets vs. Pistons game.

Entertainers including Jimmy Buffett, The Marshall Mathers Foundation, Kid Rock, Anita Baker, Bob Seger, Ted Nugent, The Police, Santana, concert promoters Live Nation and AEG Live all supported the event.

Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will play the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek (formerly Walnut Creek Amphitheatre) on Saturday, June 7th.

After coming in at the number three spot last week, Jimmy Buffett sails to the top of the Overall Top Events List this week, according to TicketNews.com.

Tropical rock icon Jimmy Buffett climbed two positions to attain the title of Overall Top Event for the week ending March 16, in TicketNews’s exclusive ranking. Buffett will be one singer in paradise this week as he and the Coral Reefers gear up for their “Year of Still Here Tour,” which will kick off on April 21 in Woodlands, Texas.

30 Year Anniversary Of SOASOAS Release

Three decades ago this day, Jimmy Buffett released his ninth album: Son of a Son of a Sailor.

To this day SOASOAS is one of Jimmy’s shortest albums, containing just nine songs. Two songs from this album have become concert regulars: the title track and “Cheeseburger In Paradise.”

Despite no singles doing well on the charts, the album still reached #6 on the Billboard Country Charts and #10 on the Billboard Pop Charts.

The Detroit Free Press has confirmed that Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will play a show at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan on Tuesday, June 10th.

Tickets will go on sale March 21st at 10 am EDT through TicketMaster. Ticket prices have not been announced yet.

South Park Lampoons Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett was lampooned on Wednesday night’s episode of “South Park” on Comedy Central.

Cartman is diagnosed with HIV, and Elton John is scheduled to play at a benefit dinner for him but does not show up in favor of playing at a cancer benefit show. He is replaced by Jimmy Buffett who sings “AIDSburger in Paradise”.
