Stubhub has released its second annual report on concert ticket sales activity, and Buffett’s 2007 Bama Breeze Tour did very well, despite having far fewer dates than most top performing tours.
Buffett placed 7th on the list of the Top 10 Selling Tours of 2007 (based on total dollar volume of tickets sold), even though he only played 25 national dates, compared to an average of 48 dates for the other 9 tours on the list. In 2006, Buffett ranked number 5 on the Stubhub list.
The average ticket price for a Bama Breeze show was $136, which did not even place on the list of the Top 10 Highest Average Tour Ticket Prices. The highest was Celine Dion with $347, and number 10 on the list was Michael Buble at $195.
Comparing the 2007 Bama Breeze Tour with the 2006 Party At The End Of The World Tour, Stubhub notes that Buffett saw a 30% increase in actual number of tickets sold for 2007, and a 34% increase in total gross sales.
One interesting note that Stubhub mentions: For the second consecutive year, six of StubHub’s Top 10 Selling Tours of 2007 also toured in 1986 or prior (The Police, Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen, Jimmy Buffett, Bon Jovi, Genesis)

According to ThomasCrampton.com, Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band will play a benefit show in Hong Kong on Friday, January 18th.
From the blog:
Thanks to a chance encounter with Jimmy Buffett in the Paris newsroom of the International Herald Tribune last May, I convinced him to come out to Hong Kong on January 18 to give a charity concert for the FCC Charity Fund.
The fund, which I co-founded a few years ago, raises money to educate the children from Hong Kong’s Po Leung Kuk orphange.
Jimmy has generously agreed to donate his time and been extremely involved in the event. Held in the Hong Kong Football Club, it is sure to be a great event, so spread the word book your tickets soon!

PC, as the horse is more affectionately known, is co-owned by several people, including Payton, Saints quarterback Drew Brees and Mr. Margaritaville Jimmy Buffett.

Navy Admiral Timothy J. Keating, the head of U.S. Pacific Command, used a Jimmy Buffett reference on Tuesday while criticizing China for refusing to allow U.S. warships to take refuge from a storm in Hong Kong.
Adm. Timothy J. Keating, the head of U.S. Pacific Command, and Adm. Gary Roughead, the chief of naval operations, both took sharp exception to the Chinese government’s refusal to allow the minesweepers to come into port when threatened by rough seas.
“As someone who has been going to sea all my life, if there is one tenet that we observe it’s when somebody is in need you provide [assistance] and you sort it out later,” Roughead said.
“This is, kind of, an unwritten law amongst seamen, that if someone is in need, regardless of genus, phylum or species, you let them come in; you give them safe harbor,” Keating said. “Jimmy Buffett has songs about it, for crying out loud.”
