Area Rooftops May be Open for Buffett Wrigley Shows

June 22nd, 2005

An article in the Chicago Tribune talks about the discussion of allowing rooftops to be open for the Buffett shows at Wrigley Field on Labor Day Weekend.

A Chicago City Council committee today recommended that rooftop venues surrounding Wrigley Field be allowed to open for the two Jimmy Buffett concerts this Labor Day holiday weekend.

Under current ordinances, the rooftops can operate only during Chicago Cubs games.

In exchange for the support of Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) for the proposed exception, rooftop owners agreed to contribute $25,000 of their proceeds from the Buffett concerts to the construction of a playlot in the Wrigleyville neighborhood.

Another Mohegan Article

June 19th, 2005

The Day has another article in their Sunday edition about the Buffett show on Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Casino.

If Rip Van Winkle fell asleep at a Jimmy Buffett concert in 1975, and then woke up Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena’s performance, he would be hard-pressed to know that 30 years had passed.

His biggest clue would be that the 10,000 screaming, singing, dancing fans were older, greyer, and wider at the hips. Another hint that three decades had gone by would be Buffett’s inclusion of surfer dude/singer/songwriter Jack Johnson’s hit, “The Horizon Has Been Defeated” in his 27-song, 21/2-hour set. Other than that, though, Buffett’s first-ever appearance in eastern Connecticut was vintage Parrot Head.

Article on Mohegan Sun Show

June 18th, 2005

The Day has an article on the Mohegan Sun show.

The parrot heads are certainly doing their part for the economy.

“This year, I think I’ve spent about 900 (dollars) on tickets alone,” said Tom Zukowski of Enfield as he wolfed down a cheeseburger in an open-air parking lot at Mohegan Sun Friday afternoon, about seven hours before the night’s Arena headliner, Jimmy Buffett, was scheduled to take the stage.
