The popular Carl Hiaasen children’s novel “Hoot,” is being produced by Frank Marshall and Jimmy Buffett, who will also provide music for the film.

Jimmy Kicks Off ASPOL Tour

The 2005 Salty Piece of Land Tour kicked off Thursday night in Columbia, South Carolina at the sold-out Colonial Center.

Buffett brought out some obscure songs that haven’t been played much in recent years, including Presents to Send You, Last Mango in Paris, Bananan Republics, Diamond as Big as the Ritz, and Uncle John’s Band. Rumors of Buffett Playing Myrtle Beach

It wasn’t official, but the buzz on the Coconut Telegraph was that Jimmy Buffett could make unscheduled stops to his two restaurants in Myrtle Beach this week.

Buffett, who is known for surprise visits and impromptu concerts, will play Thursday at the Colonial Center in Columbia and Feb. 23 at the Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C.

Jimmy Number 5 Money Maker in ’04

Rolling Stone reports that Jimmy Buffett came in at number five on their annual list of music top fifty earners. Buffett rose 12 places this year, bringing in 36.5 million. In 2003 he came in at number 17. Ahead of him were Prince, Madonna, Metallica, and Elton John.

The article also mentions that Buffett’s Margaritaville chain of retail stores, nightclubs and restaurants generates an eight-figure income.

Trip Around the Sun Video at #1

“Trip Around The Sun” has jumped to No. 1 on the CMT Top 20 video countdown. The Jimmy Buffett/Martina McBride collaboration is the second No. 1 video from License To Chill. “Hey Good Lookin'” went to No. 1 in mid-October on CMT’s Top 20.
